After my surgery my family faced the confusing task of educating ourselves about the IEP (individualized education program) and the 504 plan. If your situation was is like mine, my family was completely taken aghast by a brain tumor. Notifying my High School of my surgery was the last thing on my families mind. However, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH THE STAFF AT YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL IF YOU ARE SEEKING ACCOMMODATIONS. My family was unaware that students that undergo major surgeries can receive accommodations. This page will try to educate you with basic information about what you need to know about your child's accommodations. This page is only applicable to parents and students in the United States. If you have any questions about the 504 plan I will do my best to answer them, I can answer questions from the students perspective as well!
